For years, Don and I have wanted to go to the aquarium at Monterey and this was our chance to tick another item off our bucket list. We stayed at Yanks RV Resort in Greenfield and drove into Monterey each day.
Monterey Bay Aquarium
This aquarium was founded in 1984 and is located on the site of a former sardine cannery on historic Cannery Row. Around two million people visit the aquarium each year but what it is really known for is its conservation and education efforts.
The Monterey Bay Aquarium holds thousands of plants and animals, with more than 600 different species. The centerpiece is a 28 foot high, 333,000 gallon exhibit for viewing California coastal marine life from multiple levels and the 1,200,00 gallon Open Sea exhibit. There is just something more breathtaking around each corner. We hope you enjoy the pictures …
Other Places Visited
What a beautiful coastal area and we spent our time visiting Carmel-by-the-Sea, Big Sur, Seaside, driving Highway 1 as far as we could due to a recent rock slide, and exploring Monterey.
