December 1, 2016 – January 6, 2017: We were back close to family in Louisiana to help get Dad’s house ready for them to move back in after the flood rebuild. We had enjoyed our stop earlier in the year at Reunion Lake RV Resort in Robert, so we set up the RV there again. It made for an easy commute into Baton Rouge and the surrounding areas.
We really enjoyed seeing everyone for the Christmas celebrations. It had been awhile since we visited with the family – since last Christmas for most. As always, we were surprised at how the kids are all growing up, way too fast.
After we finished the end of the year in Louisiana, we moved on to Ocean Springs, Mississippi to be close to our family nearby and celebrated the New Year. It’s a relaxing stop and we got to visit the horses in Vancleave.
Then it was back to Louisiana for a short stay at Fairview Riverside State Park in Madisonville to finish up on a few appointments in Baton Rouge. We did get a few days of fair weather that gave us a chance to ride our bikes along the lake front on the north shore.
We had planned on heading west after the holidays, but after looking at the long-range weather forecast for Texas, we decided to stay along the Gulf Coast.
